Google Home and Home Mini Voice Activated Speakers launched in India

Google has launched its Google Home and Home Mini bluetooth speakers in India, today. The speakers are powered by Google assistant and are available online exclusively via Flipkart. The Google Home speakers will be competing with the Amazon’s Echo line-up, that was launched last year. The Google Home speakers come integrated with streaming services such as Saavn and Gaana.

The Google Home Mini is the tinier version of the two that comes with 40mm driver which is said to provide 360 sound experience. It uses dual band wifi supports dual band Wi-Fi.HE-AAC, LC-AAC+, MP3, Vorbis, WAV (LPCM), FLAC. It comes with a power adaptor and a cable in the box. The volume on the Google Home Mini can be controlled by tapping on either sides of the speaker while the mute switch lies on the underside.

The bigger Google Home speaker comes with High-excursion speaker with 2″ driver and dual 2″ passive radiators. The Home speaker comes with Dual microphones that support Far-field voice recognition and also hands-free use. Just like the Mini, the Home supports dual band Wi-Fi, which should easily be able to play HE-AAC, LC-AAC+, MP3, Vorbis, WAV (LPCM), FLAC high-resolution streams. The Home features a touch interface on the top, with a mic mute button on the side.

The Home weighs 477 gms while the Home mini weighs just 173 gms. The Google Home Mini comes in Chalk, Charcoal and Coral( which is a Google store exclusive). The Google Home on the other hand come in White with the Slate Fabric colored base. You can customise the Google Home using the interchangeable bases that would be sold separately.

The Google Home and Home Mini bear the exact same price tag as the Amazon Echo Dot and Echo, respectively. The Home Mini is priced at Rs 4499, while the Home would cost you Rs. 9999. The Google Home and Home Mini will be available online exclusively via Flipkart, while Croma, Reliance Digital and Bajaj Electronics are the official offline retailers.
