Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL

Google launches Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL with Android Oreo, Snapdragon 835

Google’s flagships for the year 2017 are finally official, as usual towards the end of the year. The two devices were quite well known already with several leaks, one of which happened just an hour before the official launch and we knew what to expect.

The Pixel lineup is the premium one from the company and the successors to Pixel and Pixel XL come with a lot, starting with the larger display for the Pixel 2 XL.

There are a lot of common features in the two devices, and one of them is the “Active Edge” that lets you squeeze the phone to launch Google Assistant, which lets you do things like take pictures. Using machine learning, Google now recognizes intentional squeezes on the phone, to trigger action responses.

Google is adopting always-on display technology, which will support a feature that will automatically detect when a song is playing and show that information on your screen. Users can then tap the artist and they’ll be taken to their track on YouTube or through Google’s music streaming service.

The devices are IP67 certified. There are stereo front-firing speakers, and while the phones have the standard connectivity options, there is Bluetooth 5.0 + LE, Wireless HD audio with LDAC, 3 microphones, and a headphone adapter to connect a 3.5mm jack to your Pixel.
