HTC has launched two new smartphones in the Desire line-up, the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+, today, in India. The two phones come with the modern 18:9 displays.
HTC Desire 12
The HTC Desire 12 comes with 5.5-inch HD+ IPS LCD display, with a resolution of 1440×720 pixels. The 18:9 display is covered under curved glass. The phone is powered by Quad-core Mediatek 6739 chipset with PowerVR Rogue GE8100 graphics. It comes with 3 GB RAM, 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to a whopping 2 TB. The phone runs on ancient Android 7.0 Nougat with HTC’s Sense UI on top.
The Desire 12 comes with a single 13 MP rear facing camera with an f/2.2 aperture. The 13 MP camera uses a BSI sensor with Phase Detection AutoFocus technology and can record videos at 1080p.
To the front, the phone features a 5 MP selfie camera with an f/2.4 aperture.
The Desire 12 lacks both the fingerprint scanner and face unlock for secure biometric authentication. It packs in a 2730 mAh battery underneath. The phone has 4G VoLTE, dual band 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS and GLONASS. The phone weighs 137 gms and has a thickness of 8.2mm.
HTC Desire 12+
The HTC Desire 12+ sports a 6.0-inch HD+ IPS LCD display. The 18:9 display has a 1440×720 pixels resolution that is covered under 2.5D curved glass. The phone is powered by Octa core Snapdragon 450 chipset with Adreno 506 GPU. It comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 2 TB. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with HTC’s Sense UI on top.
Desire 12+’s back bears a dual camera setup with a 13 MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and Phase Detection AutoFocus, while the secondary 2 MP camera captures depth information. On the front, the phone uses an 8 MP sensor with an f/2.0 lens on top. Both the rear 13 MP camera and and front facing 8 MP camera come with a BSI sensor.
The Desire 12+ comes with a 2965 mAh battery. It has a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. For connectivity, the phone comes with Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, 802.11 a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, GPS and GLONASS.
Pricing and Availability of HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+
Both the HTC Desire 12 and Desire 12+ come in Cool Black and Warm Silver colors. The HTC Desire 12 is priced at 15,800, while the Desire 12+ is priced at 19,790, and is available for pre-order on HTC e-store, starting today. The phones will later go on sale both online and offline, from June 11.
