Upgraded “LG V30S ThinQ” features Voice and Vision AI, hardware upgrades

The V30S ThinQ is what LG has up their shelves to launch during the MWC 2018. Even though the official launch is a bit later, we now have confirmation on what all to expect from the device.

The upgraded all-new LG V30S ThinQ is part of the manufacturers new business model of “not” releasing a brand new phone every year, and instead only bringing hardware and software improvements on to existing models.

We earlier expected the LG G6 successor to be launched at MWC 2018, but latest reports had confirmed that the launch will happen by June.

Talking about the LG V30S ThinQ, the device does not have any design changes in comparison to the LG V30 that is out there currently. Instead, what makes the device different, is its upgraded hardware and Artificial Intelligence features.

The LG V30S ThinQ will be powered by the same Snapdragon 835 chipset as the V30 and will remain IP68 rated for water and dust resistance as well, but the RAM capacity has been increased to 6GB from 4GB and there is 128GB of ROM available.

There will also be an LG V30S+ ThinQ, which will have a ROM capacity of 256GB.

The camera setup and battery capacity also remain the same with a 16MP+13MP dual-camera in the rear, 5MP secondary camera and 3300mAh battery. Powering the device will be the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

Again whats similar to the LG V30 is the claim by the manufacturer that the LG V30S ThinQ is the thinnest and lightest of all 6-inches and above Smartphones out there.

The LG V30S ThinQ has two main Artificial Intelligence features, Vision AI and Voice AI.

Vision AI is comprised of the following features:

  • AI CAM will analyze the subjects that are present in the frame and will recommend an appropriate shooting mode from the eight modes available: Food, Portrait, Landscape, Pet, Flower, Sunset, City, and Sunrise.
  • QLens will make use of image recognition to provide reviews of landmarks, scan QR codes and will offer related suggestions as well.
  • Bright Mode will offer better low-light photography using AI algorithms which will help in brightening the subjects and background.

Voice AI  features QVoice which is a voice-based assistant proprietory to LG and comes with 50 commands out of which, 32 of them are exclusive LG device-based commands. QVoice will work with Google Assistant to help users in accessing necessary Smartphone features and functions.

Some of the AI features of the LG V30S ThinQ will eventually make it to the LG G6 and LG V30 as OTA updates.
