Tecno Camon iAIR2+, Camon i2, Camon i2X with 6.2-inch 19:9 displays launched in India

Tecno has launched three new Camon ‘i’ smartphones, the Tecno Camon iAir2+, Camon i2, Camon i2X. All three phones come with a notched display on the front which has an HD+ resolution, and a dual camera setup on the back.

As mentioned above, the Tecno Camon iAIR2+, Camon i2 and Camon i2 feature a 19:9 notched display with an HD+ resolution spread across 6.2-inches of screen size. The screens can reach a maximum brightness of 500 nits and are covered under a 2.5D curved glass, while the screen-to-body ratio is 88%.

Powering the Camon iAIR2+ and Camon i2 is a MediaTek MTK6761 Quad core chipset, while a MediaTek MTK6762 Octa-core chipset powers the Camon i2X. As for the storage, the Camon iAIR2+ is available in a 2 GB RAM with 32 GB storage variant, while the Camon i2 comes with 3 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The Camon i2X, on the other hand, comes with 4 GB RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. Thankfully the Camon portfolio of devices offer storage expansion up to 128 GB via a dedicated microSD card slot. The phones run on Android 8.1 Oreo with HiOS on top.

Commenting on the success Mr. Gaurav Tikoo, CMO, TRANSSION India said,

Each offering from TECNO’s new series is geared up to deliver more without burning a hole in the consumer’s pocket.”

As for the cameras, all three phones feature a dual camera setup on the back. The Camon iAIR2+ and the Camon i2 feature a 13 MP primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 2 MP depth-sensing camera, whereas the Camon i2X features 13 MP primary sensor with a f/1.8 lens on top and a secondary 5 MP camera which captures depth information for portraits. An AI-based Auto Scene Detection (ASD) function powers the cameras which is said to enhance the overall photography experience. There’s also AI Bokeh mode which can detect subject or object in the foreground and blur everything in the background.

To the front, the notch on the iAIR2+, i2, i2X house an 8 MP f/2.0, 16 MP f/2.0 and 16 MP f/2.0 shooters, respectively. The cameras offer AI enabled Beauty mode which can detect 298 facial recognition spots, that self-learns user’s facial data by comparing it against the 1,00,000 Indian faces in their database and optimizes facial skin tones and contours. A Quad Flash assists the rear cameras while a front-facing flash accompanies the selfie cameras.

Fueling the three Camon phones is a 3750 mAh battery underneath. For connectivity, the phones come with Dual SIM Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS. The phones feature a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as offer AI Face Unlock for securing the phones.

Pricing and Availability of Tecno Camon iAIR2+, Camon i2 & Camon i2X

The Camon iAIR2+, Camon i2 & Camon i2X come in Aqua Blue, Champagne Gold, and Midnight Black. As for the pricing itself, the MOP of iAIR2+ is INR 8,999, i2 at INR 10,499, while the i2X comes at INR 12,499. The phones are available across 35000+ offline retail stores in India, starting today, i.e., September 26, 2018.
