Vivo Y83 with 6.22-inch display, Helio P22 launched in India

Days after the China launch, Vivo has brought its latest mid-range offering in the Y-series, the Vivo Y83 to India. The new smartphone comes with a notch on the front and 19:9 display. It is also the first device to feature the latest Helio P22 chipset.

The Vivo Y83 features a HD+ IPS LCD display, spread across 6.22 inches. The 19:9 display has a resolution of 1520×720 pixels. Powering the device is the aforementioned Octa-core Helio P22 chipset from Mediatek, paired with PowerVR GE8320 GPU, which was designed by Imagination Technologies. It has 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. The phone also offers storage expansion up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Vivo Funtouch 4.0 OS on top.

Unlike other smartphones these days, the Vivo Y83 comes with only a single 13 MP rear shooter with an f/2.2 aperture. It also has an LED flash on the back. To the front, there’s an 8 MP selfie camera with a similar f/2.2 aperture as the rear camera. The cameras offer AI Beautification as well.

The Y83 packs a 3260 mAh battery. For security, the phone comes with face unlock feature, but skips on the fingerprint scanner. The phone has support for 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0, 802.11ac dual band Wi-Fi, GPS, FM Radio, a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a microUSB port.

Pricing and Availability of Vivo Y83

The Vivo Y83 comes in Black color and is priced at INR 14,990 and is available across offline stores in India.

Mahesh Telecom, a Smartphone Retailer based in Mumbai has shared a photo of the Y83’s box on twitter, with a caption which read –
