Microsoft Lumia 550 with Windows 10 announced at $139

Microsoft has announced the Lumia 950 and 950 XL with liquid cooling feature in the flagship category, and the company also announced a budget friendly device, the Lumia 550 that wasn’t talked about much, but it gave an appearance during the event. With some high power devices like the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Microsoft Surface Book set up for launch today, the Lumia 550 made just 10 seconds of appearance on stage. The budget smartphones from Microsoft have given the company some good share in the world market outside the US.

The Lumia 550 sports a 4.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels resolution with pixel density of 294 ppi. It is powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz Snapdragon 210 processor with Adreno 304 GPU with 1GB of RAM and has 8GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128GB using microSD card. It comes with 5MP rear camera with LED flash and a 2MP front-facing camera. the back cover is detachable so we can expect a removable battery.

It comes with similar design as the previous devices by Microsoft having black glass fronts and wraparound polycarbonate shell. The smartphone is powered by a 1900 mAh battery and will be available in multiple colors of Black, White, red and blue. It comes with connectivity features like 4G LTE, 3G/HSPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA, Bluetooth v4.0, A-GPS, FM Radio and microUSB v2.0.

The Microsoft Lumia 550 is priced at $139 for the 8GB storage model and will be available in the European market from December and the availability will be spread across the world in 2016. Microsoft is following the Samsung model by introducing multiple entry-level smartphones and flooding the market giving users many options to choose from.
