Airtel 4G LTE services in Guruvayoor and Kottayam launched

Airtel is rapidly spreading their 4G LTE presence in the country and specially in Kerala which now covers 150 towns with the launch of the service in Guruvayoor and Kottayam. Airtel recently acquired 8 circles from Aircel’s 4G spectrum expanding their reach further. Earlier Airtel made a deal with Videocon Telecommunication for buying six regions from them for Rs. 4,428 crore.

These deals are under their expansion program launched in November last year called ‘Project Leap’ which is a Rs. 60,000 crore network transformation and expansion program aimed at improving network quality.

Commenting on the launch of new 4G services, George Mathen, Hub CEO – Kerala & Tamil Nadu, Bharathi Airtel, said, “We launched Kerala’s First 4G Network in Kochi last August and in just eight months our 4G presence has spread to 150 towns. As customers in Kerala show an increasing propensity for consuming data services, we at Airtel are excited to take the lead in introducing the market to the power of blazing 4G speeds. We recently launched “Project Leap”, our national network transformation drive, and look forward to augmenting our 4G presence in Kerala and deliver a compelling network experience for our customers now and in years to come.”

Airtel 4G is available for users to use across mobile phones, dongles, 4G hotspots and Wi-Fi dongles across these cities and Airtel is offering 4G LTE service at the price of 3G without additional rates. Airtel is spreading its services across the country fast and with the launch of Reliance Jio nearing, it is time that all 4G LTE providing telecom operators are prepared to take on the competition.
