Best VPN Apps for Android – [Free & Paid App List]

Maintaining your privacy when you’re surfing online is one of the main things that a lot of people are focussing on these days. When you use a VPN, you’re not only protecting your identity online, but you also get access to location-restricted content. There are a lot of these applications available in the market today, but out of all of those, which ones are the best? Well, let’s find out today!

VPNs are a must if you’re ever traveling to China or a country where certain websites are blocked. Also, if you’re in a workplace where they have blocked a few websites like Facebook maybe, you might want to consider using a VPN to get past that.

Before I dive deep into the best VPN apps available, let me bring this to your notice. A lot of these VPN apps will allow you to browse the internet for free with a limit. Although some might be different and allow completely free. So make sure you make your choice wisely depending on the speed you want or the money you want to spend.

TunnelBear

TunnelBear is one of those VPN apps that you probably have heard about from everyone. TunnelBear provides you a good VPN service from around the world. When you sign up for a free account, you will be able to browse the internet amounting to 500MB per month for free, but if you want to access more, you’ll need to pay for a subscription that costs only $6.99/month that you pay monthly. If you wish to pay yearly, you’ll end up paying $49.99/year. The service has their servers in over 20 countries around the globe, providing you with the best service. The service is definitely a must try as it is available for free. I have personally used this service, the free variant only, and I was able to get good speeds on it as well.

VYPR VPN

Vypr VPN is an another very popular VPN provider because of their offering. They also offer 500MB/month for free and thereafter, you are required to pay for the usage. The good thing about this Vypr VPN is that it has more than 700 servers worldwide and has over 2,00,000 IP addresses that it can assign to its users who join. The paid service here costs $9.99 per month but when you pay yearly, you have to pay $80.04/year. The speeds that you get on the Vypr VPN are also pretty fast, though I was unable to perform a speed test due to some technical reasons.

OpenVPN Connect

OpenVPN Connect is a truly free VPN that is available for use on your Android smartphone. Once you download the app, you will get access to the OpenVPN Access Server, Private Tunnel VPN and OpenVPN Community. Although this is an all-free VPN, the security is not compromised. You get a fully secured connection that makes sure that your internet traffic is not sniffed by any hacker or whatsoever. The speeds on the OpenVPN are not great, but they are decent. I wouldn’t expect anything more from a free VPN service.

SpeedVPN

SpeedVPN is another free VPN provider, just like OpenVPN, but has a single limitation. When you connect to this VPN, it lets you stay connected for a period of 60 minutes only and then disconnects you. However, if you want, you can reconnect to the VPN right away when your 60 minutes expire. It is a good thing in a sense because if people are just connected to the VPN and not actually using it will be removed to make space for new people and free up some bandwidth. Also, you can not use it to download data over the VPN, as it is a free service. The developers of this have explicitly mentioned that it is for browsing the web only and anything else will get you banned from the app.

Opera Max

Opera Max is probably the most different app in the list when compared to all the other apps. This is because Opera Max not only provides you a VPN access to the websites, it also compresses the data that you’re browsing. So, when you’re on a mobile internet connection, using a service like Opera Max could save you a lot of data. It will easily compress all the images and the text that you see on a web page when browsing. As far as the speeds are concerned, they are pretty good with this too even though it compresses the data before you receive it. The best part is that all this is free and you can use it as much as you want.

I hope this list of best VPN Apps helped you to decide which one you want to go with. If you’ve made a choice, be sure to let me know in the comments section below which one you chose and why! I’ll be happy to know which one you chose. Also, remember to share this list with your friends and family so that they can know about these apps as well.
