Kia to enter India with with their new SUV in Auto Expo 2018

In a rather surprising announcement, Kia just issued the teaser images of the SP Concept which is a preview of an SUV that is exclusively designed for India which is expected to make its debut in the Auto Expo 2018. The carmaker talked about the SP Concept being inspired by India heritage and explains how it takes the company’s design language in a bold but sophisticated manner.

From the images of the SP Concept, this car will be a rival to the Hyundai Creta which is in the same segment of design as the new Kia SUV. The sporty LED headlights on the front and back combined with a prominent waistline and a sloping roof that blends into the body giving you an opportunity to appreciate the wheel arches and the contrast roof, the car has got every element right to be a big success.

While there are barely any details about the car available right now, it is rumored that the new Kia SUV will be based on the new platform that the next-gen Creata which is to be launched later is based upon. It is speculated that Hyundai could launch the next-gen Creta in 5 and 7 seat variations and Kia could do the same with their SUV.

The Kia SUV is expected to come in a 1.6-litre petrol variant and a 1.5-litre BS-VI compliant diesel variant with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The Concept SP will be produced at Kia’s 536-acre plant in Anantapur and the production is expected to start in the second half of 2019. Along with this car, the company is also expected to show up to 16 other models at the Auto Expo 2018 including their Stinger, few EVs, and hybrids.
