Casio has been developing watches from 1970 and has also tried their hands at developing cellphones and PDAs which was later discontinued. Bringing their expertise in watch making and incorporating it with the modern technology, the company has announced their latest watch powered by Android wear called WSD-F10 Smart Outdoor Watch. Casio has developed the WSD-F10 as an outdoor wrist device with military standard specifications to withstand a variety of rugged activities.
The Casio WSD-F10 comes with water resistance along with Casio’s tough performance and sensor technologies. It comes with dual layer display with monochrome and color LCDs. This enables users to use the device as a watch in timepiece mode using the monochrome LCD. For use of apps, and tracking other activities the color LCD display can be used. It sports a 1.32-inch dual layer Color TFT LCD display with resolution of 320 x 300 pixels, it sports a capacitive touchscreen. Coming to the Durability standards, it is MIL-STD-810 according to US military standard. The buttons on the device are TOOL button, power button along with an APP button.
The device is water resistant up to 50 meters, it measures 61.7mmx56.4mmx15.7mm in dimensions and weighs 93 grams in weight. It runs on Android Wear OS but is capable of pairing with Android devices from 4.3 or later and for iOS 8.2 or later (iPhone 5). It sports a Lithium-ion battery which is said to give up to 1 day of battery life with normal use using all features and in Timepiece mode it gives more than 1 month approximately. Connectivity features like Bluetooth V4.1 and WiFi 802.11b/g/n available for pairing with smartphone.
To give the most of outdoor activities Android Wear comes with apps like ViewRanger GPS app for trekking, it uses GPS for providing route information, navigation guidance, altitude graphs, location data and distance to next waypoint all at a glance. Runkeeper fitness app helps in tracking and recording routes for running, cycling, walking and trekking. MyRadar weather app is also available along with support to other apps like Gmail, Google voice search, Google Maps, Google Fit and weather forecasts.
