Honor Play with Kirin 970, GPU Turbo, 4D Gaming launched

Honor has launched their latest flagship smartphone today, the Honor Play, in China. The smartphone comes with a Kirin 970 chipset and notched display. The new smartphone is Honor’s take on the recent gaming phenomenon. The phone comes with GPU Turbo graphics technology that accelerates and increases graphics processing efficiency up to 60%. It also has 4D gaming experience that is assisted by the aforementioned GPU Turbo Technology, which has real-time game scene recognition such as bullet shots, quakes or explosions that vibrates the phone to provide a haptic feedback to the user.

The Honor Play sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with a 2340×1080 pixels. It has a 19.5:9 display with a 2.5D curved glass on top. The display covers 85% of NTSC color gamut. The phone is powered by Huawei’s HiSilicon Kirin 970 chipset, with Mali-G72 MP12 GPU. It comes with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256 GB using microSD card. The phone runs on EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

The phone comes with dual camera setup on the back with, 16 MP primary camera with an f/2.2 aperture, Phase Detection Autofocus and Contrast Detection AutoFocus. The secondary camera is a 2 MP camera with f/2.4 aperture. To the front, the phone comes with a 16 MP selfie camera that has an f/2.0 aperture. It has AI scene recognition which can detect up to over 500 scenes.

The Honor Play packs in a massive 3750 mAh battery with fast charging. The phone comes with a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. For connectivity, the phone comes with 4G VoLTE , dual band 802.11ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, NFC & USB Type-C.

Pricing and Availability of Honor Play

The Honor Play comes in Aurora Blue, Midnight Black and Nebula Purple colors. The phone is priced at CNY 1999 (USD 312/ INR 20914) for the 4 GB RAM variant, while the 6 GB RAM variant is priced at CNY 2399 (USD 375/ INR 25099). The phone is now available for pre-order in China and will go on sale starting June 11.

Additionally, there’s a limited edition Honor Play Cool , which is just the regular Honor Play with a fancy back design that is priced at CNY 2499 (USD 390/ INR 26,174).
