Nokia 8 with Dual-lens rear camera, Snapdragon 835 goes official

Nokia 8, the much-anticipated smartphone is officially launched by HMD Global, after a series of rumors and leaks, and it holds a list of heavy specifications and as the company had earlier mentioned, the cameras are developed in partnership with Carl Zeiss optics.

The Nokia 8 is built out of 6000-series aluminum and it is a unibody design. It will be available in glossy Polished Copper and Polished Blue colors, as well as matte Tempered Blue and Steel finish. The Nokia 8 is IP54 rated, which means it is splash-proof. To keep the heating at bay, the phone is said to have a cooling mechanism where a copper pipe running from the upper right of your device to the lower left has the liquid cooling where it evaporates in the middle and condenses when it reaches the edges. There is a graphite shield in place for the heat dissipation.

Nokia 8 Camera

The Nokia 8 comes with a 5.3-inch 2K LCD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Internally, the phone comes with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage. The support for MicroSD card helps in storage expansion possible by up to 256GB. It features USB 3.1 Type-C connectivity as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack. The phone is just 4.6mm thick at the edges, and 7.9mm thick at the height of its camera module.

One of the highlights of the device is its camera combination. The back of the phone has a 13MP + 13MP camera combination where the primary camera has a color sensor and Optical image stabilization, while the second one comes with a monochrome sensor. Both the cameras have a F/2.0 aperture and there is phase detection autofocus offered along with the IR range finder. On the front is also a 13-megapixel camera with phase detection autofocus, F/2.0 aperture and a 78.4˚ field of view. The Nokia 8 also has Nokia OZO spatial 360° audio for a better recording of the audio to support the 4K video captures. There’s a Dual-Sight mode where you can use two cameras simultaneously.

Nokia 8 Dual mode

Just like the previous Nokia phones from HMD Global, the Nokia 8 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the stock Android OS and that is with the promise of regular OS updates. There is a hybrid SIM slot with the second slot offering support for either a SIM or a MicroSD card. The sensors included are Ambient light sensor, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, E-compass, Gyroscope, Fingerprint Sensor, Hall sensor, and Barometer. To power the device, the Nokia 8 has a 3090 mAh battery.

The Nokia 8 is priced at EUR 599, which is approximately Rs. 45000. The release is set to be in early September but we don’t have the information for the release of the device in India.
