Reliance Jio to come up with a range of IoT products, including CCTV cameras

Whenever there’s something that comes up about Reliance Jio, one would expect it to be related to the mobile network and things around it. But the case is quite different many a times as we’ve already learned that this is going to be an ecosystem of several things including the different ways of connectivity, as well as a lineup of hardware, and even a bunch of smart products.

The attractive set of Jio-branded IoT products were showcased earlier when we gave a visit to the Jio experience center, and it shows how Reliance Jio is planning to make houses smarter with the products that can be very useful in the day-to-day life of the users.

The smart products that you can expect to see from Jio in the near future include the following (but not limited to).

  • Smart plug
  • Smart switch
  • Motion sensor
  • Flooding sensor
  • Air quality sensor
  • Gas leak sensor
  • Smoke sensor
  • Surveillance camera
  • Indoor camera
  • Video doorbell
  • Chime
  • Smart lock

A video doorbell, smart lock, and the surveillance camera are a strong set coming to use for the security, while the sensors for flooding, smoke detection, air quality check, and motion sensing have their own important use cases.

Apart from these, some power line adapters too will be launched with the USP of it being that the same adapter will work as a WiFi extender to boost up the range of your current WiFi router.

What is important here is the fact that we’re not seeing an independent brand selling them but a company that is first working to provide proper connectivity through the mobile network and then the Jio broadband service, which is in its testing phase before getting rolled out to some major cities that demand high-speed and continuous connectivity. We had earlier also reported that Reliance is working on the Jio DTH service.

While we’ve learned that it will take some time for these smart products to be added to the portfolio and to be launched in the market, there is no word about the branding as they could land in with the Jio brand or the LYF brand that Reliance is using for selling the range of VoLTE based smartphones.
