Vivo introduces APEX smartphone with In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology

Vivo unveiled their new APEX FullView concept smartphone which completely redesigns their existing smartphone sets a new benchmark for future designs. This device has the highest screen to body ration and has the latest in-display fingerprint scanning technology. The company has also taken it to a whole new level by enhancing the camera, speakers, and other sensor elements by introducing engineering breakthroughs in some fields.

This is the first device with the Half-Screen Fingerprinting Scanning Technology on the APEX which is built on the first mass-produced IN-Display Fingerprint scanning smartphone X20 Plus UD. The device comes with unprecedented top and side bezels of just 1.8mm which is the thinnest in the industry and the bottom chin are just 4.3mm leading the smartphone to screen to body ratio of 98%. The display used on the device is an OLED panel and the microchips are mounted directly to the flexible circuit board enables the APEX staggering screen to body ratio.

Vivo also comes with the Screen Sound Casting technology with APEX that transforms the entire FullView display into a speaker. The Screen Sound Casting Technology sends vibrations throughout the display and thus eliminates the need for a traditional loudspeaker. Contrary to the bezel-less smartphones, this device design and technology helps conserves power and reduces sound leakage thereby optimizing the low to high pitch sound for a more balanced audio experience. APEX also comes with an 8MP elevating Front Camera which rises in just 0.8 seconds when it is required and then retracts after use. The hidden proximity sensor and the ambient light sensor eliminates the space taken up by the conventional front cameras while offering an equally good selfie experience to the users.

APEX deploys a new technology called the System in Package to integrate the DAC and has three operational amplifiers together thereby reducing the need for circuit board space by close to 60% compared to the Xplay6. This frees up the smartphone’s interior and the technology also improve the space for the battery size as well as cooling and thus sets yet another benchmark for design improvements in future smartphones.

This phone is posted the success of In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology that was shown in CES 2018 and Vivo has installed the world’s first Half-Screen In-Display Fingerprint Scanning Technology in the APEX. This transforms the entire bottom half of the OLED screen and the user can touch any of the bottom halves of the screen to perform fingerprint recognition and unlock. This offers a more flexible and intuitive experience while keeping up with the industry standards for security.
