Gionee Elife E8 with 24MP camera to launch in India on October 8th

The date for next flagship launch from Gionee India is confirmed, and the Elife E8 that was announced on June 10th in China, is going to be launched in India on October 8th. The highlight about the device is its 24-megapixel camera, since the best part about the predecessor Elife E7 was its 16MP camera.

The Elife E8 is a pretty heavy device, having a 6-inch Quad HD display, and is powered by a MediaTek Helio X10 (MTK6795) SoC coupled with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage provided in the unit is 64GB and a MicroSD card slot helps expand the storage further by 128GB, and there is a 3520 mAh battery packed into the phone.

The 24-megapixel camera on the Elife E8 comes with a software support, allowing it to take pictures at 120-megapixel resolution. It is a six-element lens made of sapphire glass, and there is Optical image stabilization also included. The camera supports 4K video recording, and it has a Dual-tone flash support and phase detection autofocus. One the front is a 8-megapixel camera.

The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back, which is said to be a biological one. The Elife E8 runs Android 5.1 Lollipop based Amigo 3.1 OS, which has been the standard modified Android interface from Gionee.

The pricing is not known yet, but this won’t be coming with a price below Rs. 30,000, as the conversion takes it well over Rs. 37000 when taking the Chinese price into consideration. We’ll get to know about it on October 8th.

Recently, Gionee announced that it is investing $50 million with Dixon and Foxconn for manufacturing products in India, though the Elife E8 might still be imported from China.
