Honor 8X, 8X Max with 6.5-inch, 7.12-inch Full HD+ display launched in China

Honor has announced two new smartphones, the Honor 8X, and the Honor 8X Max, in China. The Honor 8X comes powered by the Homegrown HiSilicon Kirin SOC, while the 8X Max is offered in two Snapdragon chipset variants. The Honor 8X is the successor to the Honor 7X.

The Honor 8X sports a 6.5-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. A 2.5D curved glass covers the 19.5:9 notched display. Powering the smartphone is a HiSilicon Kirin 710 chipset with Mali-G51 MP4 GPU. It comes with 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM with 64 GB or 128 GB of internal storage. There’s also a dedicated microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 400 GB. The phone runs on EMUI 8.2 based on top Android 8.1 Oreo.

In the camera department, the Honor 8X features a dual camera setup on the back. The phone comes with a 20 MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and a secondary 2 MP camera for depth sensing. The phone can capture 480 fps slow-mo videos. To the front, the phone features a 16 MP selfie shooter with a f/2.0 aperture. The phone also offers AI beauty and pixel binning for brighter shots.

The Honor 8X packs in a massive 3750 mAh battery underneath. For connectivity, the 8X comes with Dual VoLTE, 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5 & GPS, and GLONASS. The phone also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock option for security.

Pricing and Availability of Honor 8X

The Honor 8X comes in Black, Blue, Red and Purple colors. The phone is priced at CNY 1399 (USD 204/ INR 14,660) for the 4GB/ 64 GB variant, CNY 1599 (USD 233/ INR 16,756) for the 6 GB/ 64 GB variant, while the 6 GB/ 128 GB variant comes for CNY 1899 (USD 277/ INR 19,900). The phone is available for orders and will go on sale in China starting from September 11, 2018.

The Honor 8X Max, on the other hand, features a 7.12-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. A 2.5D curved glass covers the 19.5:9 notched display. The phone will be available with either Snapdragon 660 SOC or a Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 512 and Adreno 509 GPUs, respectively. It comes with 4 GB RAM with 64 GB or 128 GB internal storage and 6 GB RAM with 64 GB of internal storage. There’s also a hybrid microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256 GB. The phone runs on EMUI 8.2 based on top Android 8.1 Oreo.

In the camera department, the Honor 8X Max features a dual camera setup on the back. The phone comes with a 16 MP primary camera with f/2.0 aperture and a secondary 2 MP f/2.4 camera for depth sensing. To the front, the phone features an 8 MP selfie shooter with a f/2.0 aperture.

A huge 5000 mAh battery provides the necessary juice for the 8X Max. The phone supports fast charging. For connectivity, the 8X Max comes with Dual VoLTE, 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5 & GPS, and GLONASS. The phone also comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and face unlock option for security.

Pricing and Availability of Honor 8X Max

The Honor 8X Max will be available in Black, Blue, and Red colors. The phone is priced at CNY 1499 (USD 219/ INR 15,706) for the 4 GB RAM with 64 GB storage variant, while 128 GB storage variant is priced at CNY 1799 (USD 262/ INR 18,858). The phone is available for order now and will go on sale starting September 11, in China. The Snapdragon 660 variant with 6 GB RAM and 64 GB storage, is said to arrive in October.
