LG Signature Edition 2018 with 6-inch QHD+ OLED display, Ceramic Back launched in Korea

LG has launched their latest premium smartphone called the LG Signature Edition 2018, today, in South Korea. The phone comes as a successor to the original LG Signature Edition smartphone, which made its debut in 2017. For the uninitiated, the Signature Edition series of phones from LG pack in premium grade materials such a zirconium ceramic back, which helps prevent the phone from getting scratched up. LG allows users to personalize the smartphone by engraving their desired text on to the smartphone. The phone also comes with a Bang & Olufsen (B & O) Beoplay H9i headphones.

Display

The LG Signature Edition 2018 sports a QHD+ OLED display with a resolution of 2880×1440 pixels. Spread across 6-inches of size, the 18:9 screen has support for HDR10 playback. Protecting the display is Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5.

Processor, RAM & Storage

Powering the flagship is the beefy Snapdragon 845 chipset while harnessing the graphical prowess of Adreno 630. The phone comes with 6 GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, expandable up to 2 TB using a microSD card slot. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo with LG’s UX on top.

Cameras

As for the cameras, the phone features a dual camera setup on the back. The primary shooter is a standard 16 MP camera with a f/1.6 aperture, which produces a 71° wide Field of View, while the secondary snapper is a similarly sized 16 MP unit that sits behind a f/1.9 lens which is a 107° super wide lens.

To the front, the phone comes with an 8 MP camera that has an 80° wide angles lens on top, and a f/1.9 aperture.

Miscellaneous

The LG Signature Edition 2018 smartphone comes with 3300 mAh battery with support for both Quick Charge 3.0 as well as Wireless Charging. The phone supports 4G VoLTE 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS.

For charging, the phone comes with a USB Type-C port. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack that LG powers using its signature 32-bit Advanced Hi-Fi Quad DAC which supports DTS: X 3D surround sound. The phone comes with Bang & Olufsen tuned speakers. For security, the phone comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

For added resistance, the phone is IP68 Water and Dust resistant along with the MIL-STD 810G certification for drops. The phone weighs 157 gms and is 7.3mm thick.

Pricing and Availability of LG Signature Edition 2018

The LG Signature Edition 2018 smartphone comes only in Black and White colors. The pricing of the phone comes at KRW 1,999,800 which roughly translates to USD 1787 or INR 1,22,779. The company is said to make only 300 phones in total and will start selling the smartphone on August 13th, while the pre-orders will start today, i.e., July 30th.
