Oppo F9 Pro with 6.3-inch Waterdrop screen, Dual rear cameras launched in India

After multiple leaks and teasing the public for a good while, OPPO has finally launched the OPPO F9 Pro, in India, today. The phone was launched in Southeast Asian countries, dubbed as OPPO F9, earlier this week. The F9 Pro comes with an improved design and is the successor to the March launched Oppo F7.

The OPPO F9 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The 19.5:9 display has a new waterdrop notch on the top. To achieve the 90.8% screen-to-body ratio, OPPO has shrunken down the side bezels to a meager 1.72 mm.

Powering the smartphone is the same MediaTek Helio P60 chipset with Mali-G72 MP3 GPU, that powered it’s predecessor, the OPPO F7 as well. It comes with either 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM to choose from, and 64 GB of internal storage. There’s also room for storage expansion up to 256 GB, using a microSD card. The phone runs on Color OS 5.2 based on top of Android 8.1 Oreo.

As for the cameras, the OPPO F9 pro features a dual camera setup on the back. The primary rear shooter is a 16 MP with a large f/1.8 aperture, while the secondary depth-sensing camera uses a 2 MP sensor that sits behind a f/2.4 lens. The rear-facing camera can record slow-motion videos up to 120 fps at a resolution of 720p. It also comes with various 3D lighting effects which include Natural Light, Rim Light, Tone Light, Film Light and Bi-Color Light. There’s also AI scene recognition which identifies the subject and optimizes the settings automatically. The AI scene recognition includes modes such as food, landscape, pet &, etc.

To the front, the OPPO F9 retains the massive 25 MP sensor that was first used in the F7. The camera uses a f/2.0 aperture. The selfie camera comes with OPPO’s AI Beauty Technology 2.1 which can recognize up to 296 facial points and offers up to 800 million beautification schemes based on your skin color, age, gender and skin texture. Apart from this, the camera also offers AR stickers and an AI album which can sort your photos based on People, places and more.

The OPPO F9 Pro packs in a 3500 mAh battery which supports OPPO’s VOOC fast charging technology for quick top-ups. The battery also comes with AI battery management technology, which learns and adapts to your usage patterns.

For connectivity, the phone comes with 4G VoLTE, 802.11ac dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS. The phone features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner for unlocking the smartphone securely.

Pricing and Availability of OPPO F9 Pro

The OPPO F9 Pro comes in Starry Purple, Sunrise Red & Twilight Blue color options. The phone’s price is set at INR 23,990 for the 4 GB RAM variant. The first sale is on 31st August at all the OPPO stores, and there are multiple partner stores where it will be available.
