Samsung Galaxy A6 and A6 Plus with Infinity Display, 16MP camera official

Samsung has launched two new smartphones in their A-series, the A6 and the A6 Plus today. The new phones from the South Korean giant come with a tall Infinity display and 16 MP cameras. The phones also have Samsung’s personal assistant Bixby,that come with features such as Bixby Vision, Bixby Home, and Bixby Reminder.

Samsung A6

The A6 sports a 5.6″ 18.5:9 Super AMOLED Infinity display with a 720x1480p resolution. The phone is powered by an unknown octacore chipset clocked at 1.6 GHz. It comes in two RAM and storage variants 3 GB/ 32 GB & 4 GB/ 64 GB, repectively, which can be expanded up to 256 GB via a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, with Samsung’s own UI on top.

For the cameras, the phone sports a single 16 MP shooter at the back with an F/1.7 aperture and an LED flash. To the front, the phone has a 16 MP camera with F/1.9 aperture, along with an LED flash.

The A6 has 3000 mAh non-removable battery and a rear mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone also has face recognition unlocking for added security. For connectivity, the A6 comes with micro USB port, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, NFC, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

“The Galaxy A6 and A6+ draws on Samsung’s smartphone heritage to combine everyday convenience with an impressive camera that lets users capture, personalize and share moments, in a way that lets them uniquely express themselves.”

Samsung A6 Plus

The A6 Plus features a 6″ FHD+ Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The Infinity display has a resolution of 1080×2220 pixels. The phone is powered by unknown octa-core processor clocked at 1.8 GHz. It comes either in 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage & 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage variants, with an option to expand it up to 256 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on Android 8.0 Oreo, with Samsung’s own UI on top.

The A6 plus has dual cameras on the back with a 16 MP primary camera that has an F1.7 aperture and a 5 MP secondary camera with F/1.9 aperture. There’s also an LED flash at the back. To the front, the phone features 24 MP F/1.9 camera, alongside the front-facing flash.

The phone has a 3500 mAh, with facial unlock feature as well fingerprint scanner on the rear for secured access.For connectivity, the A6 comes with micro USB port, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, NFC, GPS, GLONASS, Bluetooth 4.2 LE and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Pricing and Availability

The A6 and A6 Plus come in Black, Gold, Blue, and Lavender colours and are up for pre-orders in Germany. The Galaxy A6 is priced at EUR 309 (USD 370/ INR 24,750), whereas the bigger Galaxy A6+ would cost you EUR 369 (USD 442/ INR 29,500). The phones will release in select markets in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, in early May.The phones will also arrive in South Korea, Africa, and China, later. It is still unknown as of when the phone is going to arrive in India.
