Sony Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact with Snapdragon 845, 19MP rear camera launched

Sony has finally unveiled their latest flagship at the venue today, the Xperia XZ2 and the Xperia XZ2 compact show the manufactures new design that is expected to be followed in the next few years. Both the devices from Sony come with 2.5D Gorilla Glass 5 front and Curved sides. This allows for the Ambient Flow design that the manufacturers talk about and Symmetry has still been maintained to maintain design consistency. The sharp corners of the previous device have been ditched for new rounded corners that fit better into the hand.

Another major change is the placement of the fingerprint sensor on the back from the previous placement on the power button to the side. Both, the Xperia XZ2 as well as the XZ2 compact comes with an anti-twist metal frame and come with IP rating giving you the confidence to use the smartphone in abnormal conditions. The XZ2 Compact and the XZ both come with an 18:9 aspect ratio display and while the XZ2 comes with a 5.7-inch display, the XZ2 Compact comes with a 5.0-inch display and have FullHD+ resolution on both the devices. The new displays being used on the devices are HDR certified and support the BT.2020 standard.

The rear camera on the device is a 19MP Motion Eye Sony IMX400 camera with a f/2.0 aperture. The camera comes with 5-axis image stabilization and has predictive hybrid laser/phase detection/contrast autofocus which helps the device get a lock on the focus more accurately in a shorter time. The camera also supports burst AF and has IR sensor for white balance management. There is a dedicated hardware key to release the shutter and take images quicker. The manufacturer has also collaborated with Qualcomm for the Snapdragon 845 Image signal processor for both the devices to offer a new generation BIONZ image processing algorithm. This technology is helpful for better color rendering, detail handling and noise reduction in low-light conditions. xperia xz2-compact

The camera also supports 4K HDR video making it the first smartphone to offer such standards. The BT.202 Color standard is used in an HEVC 10-bit container. The device also supports 1080p ultra-slow-motion at 960fps. The 3.5mm headphone jack has been removed from the device stereo speakers have been brought in which are 20% louder than the XZ1. The XZ2 also comes with the Dynamic Vibration System which uses an advanced technology via the wide-frequency vibration motor to artificially simulate the bass in music and add a better thump to the music. This feature is not present on the smaller XZ2 Compact.

The devices are both powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and are paired with 4GB RAM along with 64GB UFS storage which can be expanded via microSD card. The device comes with a hybrid SIM card slot and lets you choose between an additional SIM card or a microSD card. Both the devices support Wi-Fi ac, NFC, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS and USB 3.1 Type-C. The battery on the XZ2 is a 3180mAh battery while the XZ2 Compact comes with a 2870mAH battery.
