ASUS rolls out VoLTE Support for Zenfone 3 Range

ASUS, the Taiwanese smartphone brand has rolled out a new FOTA update to a bunch of smartphones in the ZenFone 3 series, and they carry the VoLTE support as the major feature addition. VoLTE (Voice over LTE) is the technology used by Reliance Jio network in India through which HD voice and video calls can me made.

Model Name Model Number
Zenfone 3 Deluxe 5.7″ ZS570KL
Zenfone 3 5.2” ZE520KL
Zenfone 3 5.5” ZE552KL
Zenfone 3 Laser ZC551KL
Zenfone 3 Max 5.2″ ZC520TL
Zenfone 3 Max 5.5” ZC553KL
Zenfone 3S Max 5.2″ ZC521TL

The only phone not included in the list is the Zenfone 3 Ultra (ZU680KL), which is said to be getting the update very soon. There are some other phones that are not from the latest series, which received the VoLTE feature in an update. These include the Zenfone Max, Zenfone 2 Laser, and the Zenfone Go 5.0 LTE.

The VoLTE feature has become important in the recent times, from the time Reliance Jio network was introduced in India. Even right now, the network provider is offering all the services including voice and video calls, data usage and apps subscription for free until 31st March under an offer to let the users test the network speeds and the quality of calls on the new network.

For a non VoLTE phone, having an app on the 4G phone would help in calling but that requires the Internet to be active all the time, but on a phone with VoLTE, it isn’t necessary and you can use it normally like any other phone, without needing the Internet to be active for making and receiving calls.

To check for the software update on your ZenFone 3 series phone, go to Settings > Software updates and check for any pending update. If you haven’t received it already or don’t see the option when you manually check, you might have to wait for a day or two.Reliance Jio network in India
