Microsoft launches Lumia 950 & Lumia 950 XL in India

Microsoft India has launched the latest top-end Windows 10-powered smartphones, the Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL. These phones were earlier announced when Windows 10 was officially unveiled with a set of excellent features that made the experience of mobile with computer more streamlined, in an event which was said to be one of the best keynotes this year.

The Microsoft Lumia 950 comes with a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor, while the larger one, Lumia 950 XL has a 5.7-inch Quad HD display and Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. Both the phones come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage, while there is a MicroSD card slot for storage expansion by up to 200GB.

The phones come with a 20 MP Rear camera with Carl Zeiss optics, 1/2.4 inch sensor size and 1.12 µm pixel size, OIS and triple-LED RGB flash. Microsoft also has included a liquid cooling technology for keeping the temperature of the phones in control. While the Lumia 950 has a 3000 mAh battery, the Lumia 950 XL has a 3340 mAh battery, and both the phones support Qi wireless charging.

The pricing for Lumia 950 is set at Rs. 43699 and for the Lumia 950 XL, it is Rs. 49399. Quite high pricing, even if Microsoft is claiming to be providing some features that the other smartphone operating systems do not offer. The pre-orders begin from December 1st, and the display dock that does the magic of connecting with larger screens, will also be separately available for Rs. 5999, but the initial units of Lumia 950 and 950 XL will have the display dock as a part of the package – only for the ones that are pre-ordered. The actual availability is from December 11th.
