Samsung Gear A to have Samsung’s 1.2GHz processor: Specs & Release Date

For the past couple of weeks, we all have been drooling over the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+, which is rumored to get an official launch pretty soon, as soon as early August. And over all these rumors, we almost forgot about the round Samsung Smartwatch, the Samsung Gear Orbis, that we all were waiting for some time now.

Well, now we hear more about the circular Smartwatch from Samsung, and it will be named the Samsung Gear A. The expected launch date is alongside the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, which itself is expected to debut at a special event on August 12. It is pretty much logical for Samsung to launch a Smartwatch accessory along with their phablet flagship of 2015.

Well, not just a launch date, but we too have a list of specifications expected to power the Samsung Gear A. The Smartwatch will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 3472 1.2 GHz dual core processor, 768 MB of RAM, 450 MHz Mali-400 GPU, 4 GB internal storage space and a 250 mAh battery. The Smartwatch will also have Bluetooth 4.1, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n and Wifi Direct as connecitivity options. The inbuilt sensors will include the following: accelerometer, gyroscope, barometer, heart rate sensor and GPS.

However, unlike earlier rumors, which suggested that the Gear Orbis/Gear A would run the latest Android Wear operating system, the Gear A would be actually running a new version of Samsung’s Tizen OS, with a revamped UI as well.

So, this is what we know about the Samsung’s first circular Smartwatch that has been in works for some time now. We will keep you updated soon about the possible pricing and other details about the product, and to get these updates as soon as we release them, subscribe to our newsletter.
