WhatsApp feature allows sharing your live location on Android and iOS

WhatsApp has announced that it is introducing a new feature that is more for security. This is the live location sharing feature that is getting introduced and it allows the users to share the location in real-time with family and friends. Calling it a simple and secure way to keep track of someone you are close to, the Live location sharing feature on WhatsApp is going to arrive on both the major platforms in the coming weeks.

The Live location feature is an end-to-end encrypted one and while sharing, you can choose how long you want this feature to be active, or you can stop sharing it anytime. The times specified there are 15 minutes, 1 hour, and 8 hours.

To make this work, you will have to go to the chat page with the contact or in the group, and then tap on the “Attach” button that opens all the options, and here, tap on “Location”. Choose for how long you want to share and tap send. Each person in the chat will be able to see your real-time location on a map. And if more than one person shares their Live Location in the group, all locations will be visible on the same map.

The feature is not yet released but is being talked about a lot because of the number of users the app has, over a billion, and this feature will surely help some who wanted to keep a check on the whereabouts of their closed ones. But, just like how things are happening on the Instagram side in getting inspired from the rival Snapchat, this feature of live location sharing seems to be inspired from the one in Telegram.

We will update the news when the feature is officially available. Some of the recent major features of WhatsApp include WhatsApp Status, video calling, among others.
