Mercedes Maybach S 600 Guard with 4.7 tonne weigh launched in India

The luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz has launched a ballistic protected Maybach S 600 Guard model in India, and the price set for it is Rs. 10.5 crore (ex-showroom Delhi). The premium looking car is more about its strength than the looks because it sits in the special protection category vehicles.

“With the introduction of the Mercedes-Maybach S 600 Guard we have now created an unmatched offering in the segment and strongly reiterated our technological leadership in the field of special protection vehicles,”, Mercedes-Benz India MD & CEO Roland Folger told reporters here.

The car, which is certified with the highest ballistic protection level of VR 10, comes to India as a completely built unit (CBU). According to Roland Folger, it is a mixture of luxury motoring coupled with the highest level of safety, and it is good to see that the company is coming into India under 15 days of its International launch.

What the VR 10 certification means is that the body and windows of the car must be able to withstand a hardened steel core bullet fired from an assault rifle, and for this level of protection, this is the highest level of ballistic and blast protection for any car that is non-military in nature.

“It is hence not surprising that most of the global heads of state, diplomats, business tycoons and celebrities prefer a Guard vehicle,” Folger said.

The features don’t limit to only the strong body, but the car also has cabin fresh air system and a fire extinguisher system with automatic activation. The car weighs 4.7 ton, and it is the most expensive car by Mercedes-Benz in India. With a top speed of 190 kmph, the car boasts a pickup speed from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.9 seconds.
