JioPhone 2 announced with a QWERTY Keyboard at an introductory price of Rs. 2,999

Update (August 14, 2018) The JioPhone 2 will be sold via a flash sale on Jio.com starting at 12 noon on August 16th.

Reliance India has today launched its second iteration of the feature-smartphone, the JioPhone 2, today, in India. Unlike the original JioPhone which came with a standard T9 keyboard, the JioPhone 2 comes with a QWERTY keyboard and a 4-way Navigation keys.

The JioPhone 2 sports a 2.4-inch QVGA display with a resolution of 320×240 pixels. It comes with 512 MB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. The phone’s storage can be expanded up to 128 GB using a microSD card. The phone runs on KAI OS.

For the cameras, the phone comes with a 2 MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera.

The JioPhone 2 comes with a 2000 mAh battery. The phone comes with CAT4 LTE modem which offers peak download speeds up to 150 Mbps, and peak upload speeds up to 50 Mbps. As for connectivity, it has VoLTE, VoWiFi, FM, Bluetooth LE, NFC, Wi-Fi, and GPS. The Dual SIM phone accepts only nano-SIMs. It also comes with a loud mono speaker.

Pricing and Availability of JioPhone 2

The JioPhone 2 comes with an introductory price of Rs. 2,999 and will be available soon across all Jio stores and other retail and e-commerce stores.

Additionally, Reliance has also announced the Jio Monsoon Hungama offer, which allows interested buyers to purchase the new JioPhone at a price of Rs 501 by exchanging your old feature for the new JioPhone, starting July 21st.

The company hasn’t revealed any details regarding the recharge plans for the new JioPhone, assuming it is the same as when you buy the JioPhone.
