Micromax Bharat 1 Feature Phone with 4G VoLTE, BSNL plan launched

After the JioPhone and Airtel’s partnership with Karbonn for an affordable basic phone with VoLTE, Micromax has now partnered with BSNL to launch a feature phone with VoLTE – the Micromax Bharat 1. The partnership with the network provider is to offer a very affordable plan that gives unlimited calling and data.

It is a basic feature phone with the smart connectivity, as the Micromax Bharat 1 has a 2.4-inch QVGA display on the front and there is a physical keypad just like how it is on the JioPhone. Also, as is the feature for these smart feature phones, there are two cameras, a 2MP rear camera and a VGA front camera that will help in video calling.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 205 mobile platform is what powers this phone and the Bharat 1 has Dual SIM functionality, 4G VoLTE, and 2000 mAh battery that is the same even on the JioPhone. To counter the competitor, Micromax has include a suite of content options under the name Micromax Entertainment that has Live TV, Music, Movies and Videos. The Micromax Bharat 1 also comes with 22 language support for Indian users.

Commenting on the announcement, Mr. Rahul Sharma, Co-founder Micromax, “BSNL is one of the major service providers in the country and has a vast reach and network that spreads across every nook & corner of the country. Both Micromax and BSNL have been working with an aim to bring the next wave of unconnected users on the Internet. We will now take this vision forward with Bharat-1 and create a compelling proposition for the users that is a first in the category.”

The Micromax Bharat 1 is priced at Rs. 2200 and it is going to be available across the local stores from October 20th. The BSNL partnership gives the users a very good plan, at least when compared to the other network providers, as you can recharge with Rs. 97 monthly and get unlimited calls and data on the BSNL network when using the SIM on this device. Sadly, since this is a feature phone and not an Android based phone, you won’t be able to tether the data to other devices around.
