Google ‘Pixel 3’ Laptop with Andromeda OS to Launch in 2017 [Report]

Google is reportedly working on a brand new Pixel laptop to be released next year. Code-named “Bison,” the upcoming device will be the first to run the Andromeda OS. This is the much anticipated Operating System which will blend Android with Chrome OS. Presumed to be known as the ‘Pixel 3’, the notebook will likely launch in the third quarter of 2017.

According to speculations, Andromeda will be entirely different from the present Chrome OS. So, we suspect that the forthcoming ‘Bison’ will not feature the Chromebook name tag. Previously, Google tried to make its Chrome Operating System run a handful Android applications. But, with the Andromeda, the company is attempting to build on Chrome OS features on the top of a full-fledged Android system. This means it is better to say that the ‘Pixel 3’ runs Android rather than Chrome OS.

The forthcoming Andromeda-powered laptop will be a convertible with ultra-thin construction. Currently, we don’t have many details regarding the design and building material of Bison, but it will almost certainly sport outstanding portability. Talking of the internals, the Pixel 3 will be powered by a new generation Intel Core M3 or Core i5 chip along with 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM. Speculations predict that there will be 32 GB or 128 GB storage options, but Google may increase the memory capacities. So, far it seems that there will be two different models of the forthcoming convertible.

Pixel 3 will sport a fingerprint sensor, two new generation USB Type-C ports, stereo speakers, four microphones, an array of sensors, and maybe even a 3.5 mm audio jack. Rumors suggest that the upcoming laptop will come with inbuilt Wacom digitizer and will offer excellent stylus support. A massive battery of some undisclosed capacity will make the forthcoming laptop last for about 10 hours without any external power supply. Bison will feature a backlit keyboard along with an innovative pressure-sensitive trackpad similar to the new generation MacBook. Reliable sources speculate that Google will make the upcoming laptop less than 10 mm thin, which will make it significantly slimmer than Apple’s offering.

Finally, coming to the pricing, Bison is pegged to be relatively expensive at $799 or about Rs. 53,000. Even though this seems quite costly, actually it is quite competitive considering its specifications and features. With the Pixel 3, Google is aiming to make a mark in the mainstream laptop industry and rival with high-profile competitors like Apple MacBook.
