Qualcomm Snapdragon 657 vs 710

Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 vs 710 – How do they differ?

The mid-tier mobile platform segment from Qualcomm is quite packed with some exceptional chipsets that boost up the performance for the phones offered in the mid-range pricing segment, and most of the Qualcomm processors are superior to the ones offered by the competing chipset manufacturers. A couple of great mid-range processors include the Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 710.

Both the mobile platforms mentioned here, i.e. Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 and Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 are very good in performance and they are powering the phones that are almost the same in price range. So, how do they compete with each other? Let’s check it out in the comparison.

Snapdragon 675 vs Snapdragon 710 – Differences

To begin with, let’s talk about the manufacturing process. The Snapdragon 710 is advanced with the 10nm manufacturing process that is used to make the processor, while the Snapdragon 675 uses the 11nm process, which doesn’t make it very inferior but the architecture and process does matter in the processing calculations done, so the Snapdragon 710 is clearly better in that case.

CPU difference between Snapdragon 710 and 675

The CPU offered in both the processors are based on Kryo architecture but the generation is different, with the Snapdragon 710 having eight Kryo 360 CPUs while the Snapdragon 675 on the other side has eight Kryo 460 CPUs. The clock speeds differ, though, with the Snapdragon 710 clocking up to 2.2GHz while on the other side, it is the maximum clock speed of 2.0 GHz on the Snapdragon 675.

GPU difference between Snapdragon 710 and 675

Of course, here the latest chipset will offer a better graphics performance, so the Adreno 616 GPU on Snapdragon 710 is coming with better graphics output and the 512 KB on-chip graphics memory, and in comparison, the Adreno 612 GPU on Snapdragon 675 is coming with the 256 KB on-chip graphics memory, but that’s not ony it – the work done along with the CPUs would clearly show that Snapdragon 710 offers better rendering of the graphics compared to the other one.

Camera support offered by Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 710

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 here supports either a single 24-megapixel camera, or dual-lens 13-megapixel cameras, and there is support for two Spectra 250 ISPs with the support for standard software featured provided by the phone manufacturers or ROM makers.

On the other side, the Snapdragon 675 supports either a single 25-megapixel camera, or dual-lens 16-megapixel cameras, and the ISP support is the same. Only difference here is with the sensor size that is supported by these chipsets.

Connectivity support differences

The modem offered on Snapdragon 710 is the X15 LTE modem that supports things like carrier aggregation, and the speed support is for up to 800 Mbps downlink and up to 150Mbps uplink. The Snapdragon 675 mobile platform has the X12 LTE modem and while the uplink speeds are the same, the downlink support is for up to 600 Mbps.

The other connectivity options remain the same on both the chipsets, including the support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2, MU-MIMO, Dual-SIM, and Dual-VoLTE.

Similarities between Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 710

The display properties, video playback and recording support are all the same on both the processors, and there is also the Qualcomm AI engine that helps in the on-device interactions and a better user experience.

The video capture possibility is for up to 4K videos at 30 fps, and 1080p videos at 120 fps, and this is common for both, Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 675.

The charging speed support as well is the same on Snapdragon 675 and Snapdragon 710. Both these platforms support Quick Charge 4.0 technology.

Overall comparison – Which is a better chipset?

There is no clear winner here. While the Kryo CPU on the Snapdragon 675 seems better, the manufacturing process of 10nm on Snapdragon 710 makes it better in terms of keeping the CPUs chilled and heat up lesser. The other supports offered are quite the same, so in the end, it depends on the connectivity if someone needs a faster connecting device, they could go with one having the Snapdragon 710 platform.
