BQ Aquaris X5 launched with Cyanogen OS 12.1, 2G RAM and 4G LTE

BQ has partnered with Telefonica and Cyanogen Inc. to launch Aquaris X5 smartphone in Spain which comes with Cyanogen OS 12.1. BQ had entered the Indian market with the Aquaris E4.5 and Aquaris E5 Ubuntu Edition. There is no update about the Cyanogen OS running Aquaris X5 launch in India by the company.

The BQ Aquaris X5 sports a 5-inch HD IPS display with resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels having Asahi dragontrail glass protection and NTSC of 85%. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz Quad-Core 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 412 processor with 645 MHz Adreno 306 GPU. Supported by 2GB of RAM and 16GB internal memory, expandable up to 32GB using microSD card. The Aquaris X5 runs on Cyanogen 12.1 based Android 5.1 Lollipop OS which can be one of its main selling point.

The smart phone sports a 13MP rear camera with Dual LED Flash along with Sony IMX214 sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 5P lens. The sensor size is 1/3.06″ and comes with 1080p video recording. The front camera is a 5MP shooter having 4P lens with Samsung 5E2 sensor, f/2.0 aperture and LED flash. The smart phone measures 144.4mm x 70.5 x 7.5 mm in dimensions and weighs 148 grams.

The BQ Aquaris X5 Cyanogen Edition supports dual SIM and comes with 4G LTE connectivity supporting FDD LTE B20, B3, B1 and B7 bands. It has other connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, USB OTG and GPS, it is powered by a 2900mAh battery.

The BQ Aquaris X5 Cyanogen will be available in Spain starting from today through Movistar commercial network priced at 209 Euros (without contract) which is approximately Rs. 14,870 or US$ 225, with a contract of 24 months it is priced at 8.7 Euros per month. The availability in other regions like Germany and UK will start in the coming weeks, as for other countries the device will be gradually launched through 2016.
