Huawei Mate S with Force Touch, Kirin 935 chipset unveiled at IFA 2015

Huawei announced their latest flagship device, the Huawei Mate S, with a unique feature that was rumored to be a part of the upcoming iPhone, i.e. Force Touch. This might be familiar to you as the term was featured in the Apple watch and there is a lot of talk going around about its inclusion in the latest iPhone to be launched.

Huawei has announced the Mate S today on the first day of IFA 2015 in Berlin. The device features a 5.5-inch FullHD AMOLED display which comes with a screen color saturation of 105 percent. It is protected by 2.5D Gorilla Glass 4 protection over the display. The main feature which will be the selling point of the device is the Force Touch sensor which comes in the Mate S, is actually an improved version of the Knuckle control feature, which was earlier seen in the P8. This actually lets you give in different commands, which is controlled by the amount of force exerted on the display.

The Mate S is powered by Kirin 935 chipset with dual quad-core processor which clocks at 2.2GHz. It is supported by 3GB RAM and comes with two variants of internal storage with Standard having 32GB and Premium having 64GB, there will be a 128GB variant too which will be announced later. There is a fingerprint sensor which is placed on the back of the device below the camera.

The Mate S comes with 13MP camera with BSI sensor with an RGBW array which helps in improved light gathering capability, it has a f/2.0 lens and dual-LED flash. Other features of the rear camera as Optical Image stabilization which is said to correct up to 1.2 degrees of shake. The camera is protected by a Sapphire crystal lens for protection from any unwanted fall or blow to the camera. It has a 8MP front facing camera with LED soft light flash for taking better selfies. The aperture of the front camera is f/2.4 and comes with fixed focus.

the device runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with Huawei’s EMUI3.1 on top of it. The Mate S measures 149.8 x 75.3 x 7.2 mm in dimensions and weighs in at 156 grams in weight. The device is curved with the thickness of the sides going to an amazing 2.65mm at one point. All the basic Connectivity features are present with 4G LTE/3G HSPA along with Wi-Fi, GPS, FM and NFC.

The launch of Huawei Mate S is said to be later this month across the world and the price of the Standard variant which comes with 32GB of internal storage is set at €649 and the Premium variant which comes with 64GB internal storage is €699.
