Silent Circle which is known for its secure smartphone the Blackphone, has now come out with the upgraded variant called Blackphone 2 which was announced in MWC 2015 in Berlin. With the security issues increasing with Android like the Stagefright media tool in August exposed close to 950 million devices to attack by hackers.
With Blackphone, Silent Circle had created a secure phone which comes with Android OS to keep both types of users happy. Silent Circle has come out with their latest offering the Blackphone 2 which comes with better specifications and better design compared to its predecessor. There is also an improvement in the security aspect as well.
The Blackphone 2 sports a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1080p resolution. Powered by an Octa-Core Qualcomm Snapdragon 610 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage space which is expandable up to 128GB using microSD card. It runs on Silent OS based on Android Lollipop 5.0. The Blackphone 2 sports a 13MP rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera.
The security features have also been improved with inbuilt Security Center which lets users manage privacy and security settings in one place. It offers secure voice calls along with conference calling and video conferencing, secure text and file transfer with the help of Silent circle’s private communication App. App permissions is one of the major features which I love, this lets you choose what your app will be accessing, most of the apps in Android OS offer all or nothing choice which is really annoying. You can even set up your own profile with even its own mini operating system.
