Huawei Honor 4C and Honor 6 in India get Android 5.1 Lollipop update

Huawei Honor 4C and Honor 6 get the Android 5.1 Lollipop update in India. Huawei had promised last month that both the devices will be getting Android 5.1 Lollipop update shortly. The Honor 6 received the update today whereas the Honor 4C had received the update on September 21st. Along with the Lollipop 5.1 update the company’s own EMUI has also been updated to the latest EMUI 3.1.

The new update does not just concentrate on one area but gives the users a broad range of updates across varios segments. Let us look at the various updates which are obtained by installing the latest OS update.

EMUI 3.1 update based on Android 5.1 for Huawei Honor 6 and Honor 4C:

  • Home screen Notifications: The notifications will now be available directly on the lock screen, no need to unlock the screen to check your notifications like messages, calls etc which can now be accessed from the notifications bar.
  • New Search Bar: A new Search bar has been included in the Settings function which helps in increasing the speed and convenience while searching your device.
  • Time-Lapse feature: A new feature has been added to improve the photography called Time-Lapse photography where a video as short as 40 s is generated by means of intelligent dynamic frame extraction.
  • Increase Privacy: A new feature has been added to improve privacy via ‘Hidden Apps’ on the home screen. This lets users hide apps directly on the home screen itself. If you want to view the hidden apps all you have to do is slide upwards with two fingers on the home page.
  • Badge App icons: Users can display badges for apps

The EMUI 3.1 update based on Android 5.1 is not available as an over-the-air (OTA) update but should be downloaded as a ZIP file from Honor India support site for the particular device and installed in your device. The Honor 6 Plus elder sibling of the Honor 6 will be getting the update  on September 29th and the Honor 4X on October 20th.
