Reasons for updating to iOS 10

New Features – There are loads of new features, and actually over a hundred new features that are introduced in the new iOS version, so you are not seeing a subtle update but a major one and you should update to see what Apple is offering.

Integration of Siri with third party apps – This is one of the reasons why I would first jump to get the new iOS 10 update. Siri is all good but finally, Apple has offered something that will make Siri far more useful and interactive. Apple is sending the SiriKit framework for developers to work on, and get Siri to work with other apps.

Changes to iMessage – There are loads of changes announced for the iMessage app and that has to do with the iOS 10 update. The new update brings the option to change the look of message bubbles, lets you write the message in your own handwriting, send messages as surprises, send celebratory messages that are animated, send quick responses, etc. Also, not to forget, there are over a hundred emojis newly introduced.

iOS 10 performs better – There is nothing so bad or wrong about the iOS 10 that you will need to avoid it when it comes to performance, and this is tested and judged based on how it did during the beta releases. So, if you are wondering if there is any performance issue, be assured that it works well.

Reasons for not updating to iOS 10

No jailbreak yet – This is one of the major reasons for people to stick to their current iOS version and it is the 9.3.3 version that can be jailbroken. So if you are wondering to update and you have jailbroken your phone earlier, remember that it will be gone in the iOS 10 and you might have to wait until developers work to get a jailbreak done for this new version.

App compatibility – This is a major issue that again, happens every year. Developers choose to not put much work already and they take time for the app to be updated to be compatible with the latest OS update, and it could happen with the iOS 10. So, if you care a lot about your apps, it is better to wait for a few days until your favorite apps are all compatible to run well on iOS 10.

iPhones are getting bricked – This is not a generalized case but there are enough number of users complaining about the same issue, which makes it a matter of concern. There are users saying that while updating their iPhone to the latest version of iOS, the phone got bricked, or entered recovery mode. So, until Apple addresses this issue and releases a fix for the same, you better avoid updating to the latest version.

Sooner or later, you will anyway have to update to the latest version of iOS but till then, you will have to keep these reasons for not updating if you are concerned about issues like Jailbreak and bricking of the iPhones.
