Samsung Galaxy Book tablets with 10.6 and 12-inch displays unveiled at MWC 2017

Samsung has made two announcements at the MWC 2017 event in Barcelona. One is of the Galaxy Tab S3, and the other, of this new product that places itself in the midst of a tablet and a laptop – the Samsung Galaxy Book. Even though a tablet device in the end, the Samsung Galaxy Book shows off itself as a laptop replacement.

The Galaxy Book comes in two sizes, with 10.6-inch and 12-inch displays, and these are Full HD and 2K displays on the front respectively. While you can use these as standard tablets, placing a full physical keyboard as an attachment gives it a laptop-like functionality.

The 10.6-inch Galaxy Book has a Full HD TFT display and it comes with the Intel Core M3 processor that clocks at 2.6GHz. This is coupled with 4GB of RAM, and there are models with differing storages – 64GB and 128GB internal storage, and Samsung is offering a MicroSD card slot if you wish to expand the storage by a further 256GB. The tablet has a 30.4W rechargeable battery that is said to offer about 10 hours of usage.

On the other side, the 12-inch Galaxy Book has a 2160 x 1440 Super AMOLED display and under the hood is a 7th Gen Intel Core i5 processor clocking at 3.1GHz, along with a combination of 4GB RAM and 128GB storage or 8GB of RAM and 256GB storage, both the storage options here being SSDs. Here, the Galaxy Book has a 39W rechargeable battery claiming to offer about 10.5 hours of usage.

While both the variants have a 5-megapixel front facing camera, it is only the larger one that has a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus. Also, while it is the USB Type-C connectivity that we see here on both the tablets, the 12-inch model has two Type-C ports compared to the single port on the 10.6-inch one.

There’s an S Pen that you can use with these laptop-replacement units and it comes with the functions like Air Command, Samsung Notes and Samsung Flow.
