Reliance Jio launches JioDongle 2 with 10000mAh power bank combo offer

Reliance Jio has launched yet another LYF device. This time, it is a plug and play 4G wireless modem called JioDongle 2. Just a week ago, the company silently revised its JioFi 2 portable hotspot with a LED display. The newly released JioDongle 2 is available for Rs. 1999 at Reliance Digital and Xpress mini stores across the country. Reliance will give you a 10000mAh power bank for a discounted price of Rs. 799 along with the latest dongle.

The JioDongle 2 features a foldable USB design. You can flip open the USB connector and plug it into your PC or any other power source for an instant Wi-fi hotspot. The portable modem can connect up to 10 devices wirelessly and one with USB. Similar to the JioFi and JioFi 2, this can also take in memory cards up to 32 GB and turn them into a wireless storage. You can even make voice calls with the JioDongle 2 by using the Jio4GVoice application.

The new wireless USB modem is mainly targeted for assembled desktops and older laptops which do not come with Wi-Fi connectivity. Although, the JioFi models are capable of providing the internet through USB, many are unaware of the feature, and they are somewhat bulky to be always attached to a desktop or laptop. The new JioDongle 2 features a very slim design similar to other third party USB dongles available in the market.

However, the compactness comes with a sacrifice; the latest modem does not carry a battery inside. This means that if you want to use your JioDongle 2 as a standalone Wi-Fi modem, you must connect it to an external power supply. So, it is not quite outdoor friendly as the JioFis, as you need to carry a power bank in order to use it outside. Reliance is selling the JioDongle 2 for Rs. 1999 which exactly what the JioFis cost.
