JioPhone vs JioPhone 2 Comparison – How do they differ?

At the AGM, Reliance India has announced the launch of the second iteration of the JioPhone, the Jiophone 2, on Thursday. The new JioPhone 2 comes at a price tag which is double that of the original. The company also has announced that they’ve sold over 25 million JioPhones from launch and plan on reaching the 100 million phones sales this year. So, does the new phone pack in enough to justify the higher price or does it have the same feature set as the previous gen phone? Let us find out through a quick spec comparison.

JioPhone vs JioPhone 2

Design and Display

Unlike the JioPhone which came with a T9 Keyboard, the new JioPhone comes with a QWERTY Keyboard. The two 4G enabled feature phones come with Google assistant button and a 4-way navigation keys.

Although both phones feature a similarly sized 2.4-inch display, the JioPhone has a tall vertical display; the new JioPhone 2 comes with a wide horizontal display. The screens have a similar QVGA resolution which is 320×240 pixels.

RAM and Storage

The RAM and storage are carried forward from the previous gen phone with 512 RAM and 4 GB internal storage. The storage can be expanded up to 128 GB on both the phones.

Cameras

It’s the same affair with cameras. Both the JioPhone and the JioPhone 2 sporting a similar 2 MP rear-facing camera and a 0.3 MP VGA camera on the front, for selfies.

Battery

Both the phones pack in a similar 2000 mAh battery, which provides the necessary juice for the devices to function.

OS & Interface

Both the JioPhone and JioPhone 2 run on KAI OS, with Google Assistant built in. The two devices now have support for social media apps like Facebook, Whatsapp & YouTube.

Price

As for the pricing, the original JioPhone is priced at INR 1,500 whereas the newer JioPhone 2 costs double than what the original retails for, with a price tag of INR 2,999.

  1. That’s the really comparison great topic most of the people will never excited to buy Jio phone 2 but let see with the exchange offers its great at the value but overpriced if we want to buy directly for such a specs smartphone offered #GizmoArmy

  3. They could have atleast doubled the internal storage!! And probably Ram too since the no. of Apps are going to increased!!
