Realme 1 vs. ASUS ZenFone Max Pro Comparison – How do they differ?

Asus had recently made its comeback into the Indian market with the launch of Zenfone Max Pro M1. The new phone from Asus has almost everything one could ask for stock android, great processor, dual camera. OPPO has decided to challenge both Asus & Xiaomi with the newest competitor, the Realme 1. Let us see how does OPPO’s sub-brand Realme compete with Asus’s this year’s midrange offering, in a quick spec comparison.

Design and Display

The Realme 1 comes with a fiberglass back and unique diamond black design. The Zenfone Max Pro M1, on the other hand, has a metal backplate with polycarbonate side frame for a better signal reception. Realme 1 doesn’t come with a fingerprint scanner, whereas the Zenfone Max Pro does come with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Both the phones come with an 18:9 display. The Realme 1 has a slightly bigger 6.0 inch IPS LCD display whereas the Zenfone Max Pro M1 has a 5.99-inch display. Both the phones have a FullHD+ screen with a resolution of 1080 x 2160 pixels.

Processor, RAM & Storage

The Realme 1 is powered by the powerful Helio P60 chipset with a Mali G72 MP3 GPU, while the ZenFone Max Pro M1 has a Snapdragon 636 chipset with Adreno 509 GPU. Both the phones come in similar RAM configurations – 3 GB, 4 GB & 6 GB, although the 6 GB variant of ZenFone Max Pro M1 will be released later.

The two phones offer similar storage options with the 32 GB, 64 GB variants but the Realme also comes in a 128 GB storage variant as well.

Cameras

The Realme 1 comes with a single 13 MP rear shooter with a F/2.0 aperture and an LED flash. The Zenfone Max Pro M1 has a dual camera setup with 13 MP + 5 MP combination on the back. The 13 MP camera on Max Pro M1 has an F2.2 aperture, and the 5 MP depth-sensing camera has a F/2.4 aperture. Asus is also said to launch a 6 GB RAM variant which has a 16 MP + 5 MP rear camera setup.

Both the phones come with an 8 MP camera with a F/2.2 aperture, for selfies.

Battery

Although the Realme 1 has a pretty respectable 3410 mAh battery, it stands nowhere close to the enormous 5000 mAh battery that the ZenFone Max Pro M1 boasts. Neither of the two phones supports any sort of fast charge.

OS and Interface

Both phones run on Android 8.1 Oreo, but the Realme 1 comes with Oppo’s custom UI on top Color OS 5.0, which is a heavily customized version of Android. The ZenFone, on the other hand, comes with clean and stock android which ensures quicker updates.
Thankfully, none of these two phones come with added bloatware and only have stock apps.

Price Comparison

The Realme 1 is priced at Rs. 8999, 10999, and Rs. 13990 for the 3 GB/32 GB, 4 GB/64 GB & 6 GB/128 GB RAM/storage variants, respectively. The pricing of ZenFone Max Pro M1 starts at INR 10,999 for the 3 GB RAM/ 32 GB storage variant, 4 GB RAM/ 64 GB storage variant at INR 12,999 and the 6 GB variant is expected to be priced around INR 14,999.
