Top Android Smartphones with Laser Autofocus for Camera

Smartphones are getting loaded with new features everyday, I mean just imagine did you ever think of getting a fingerprint sensor on your mobile phone back in the 90s? Most probably you didn’t but now we actually have a fingerprint sensor on our phones. The case is somewhat similar with laser auto-focus as well. Few years ago no one had a clue what laser auto-focus was but now we have it on our phones!

If you are one of those guys who doesn’t knows what laser auto-focus is then just to increase your knowledge let me tell you and explain what laser auto-focus is.

What is laser auto-focus?

Laser auto-focus, is a type of auto-focus in which infrared light beams are used to detect the objects and also calculate how far they are. They are usually better and more accurate than contrast based focus techniques.

But how does it works?

Laser autofocusProbably you might have heard about laser beam range meters, even though if you haven’t then let me tell you that it is a device which uses laser beams to measure the distance and laser auto-focus works in a similar way.

The LaserAF module emits low intensity infrared lights which are not visible to the human eye, then those beams hit an object and are refracted back to the infrared sensor. The sensor then calculates the distance with the help of time taken for the beams to hit the object and come back to the sensor and then adjusts the focus accordingly.

This process may seem to be a long and a lengthy process but all of this happens with fractions of seconds! Another thing you should be happy about the laser auto-focus in phones is that they are not at all harmful for human eyes unlike the cheap toy lasers which can make you blind.

Now you know what is laser auto-focus and how it works, so we can finally move to our list of Top 5 phones using laser auto-focus.
