HTC and Alphabet 3 year deal for Nexus devices

HTC rumored to ink a 3 year contract with Alphabet to manufacture Nexus devices

There were rumors about HTC being chosen by Google to manufacture two Nexus smartphones for this year. Looks like it was not just a wild rumor after all, with another rumor making rounds that Google is going with HTC to make both the Nexus devices which are being planned this year and not just stop there but they have signed a three year deal.

According to the Chinese News website MyDrivers, the details about a three year contract being signed between HTC and Google has emerged. There is no official conformation from either company till now. With this deal we can expect two new Nexus devices manufactured by HTC, last year the  Nexus 5X was manufactured by LG and the Nexus 6P was manufactured by Huawei.

HTC and Alphabet 3 year deal for Nexus devices

LG has officially backed out of the Nexus program by stating that they want to concentrate on their own brand and will not make the Nexus 5X successor. This is not new for HTC as they were the first company to manufacture the  first Nexus smartphone called Nexus One and later in 2014 they manufactured the tablet Nexus 9 as well.

Earlier this year there were rumors about HTC manufacturing two HTC devices code named HTC T50 and T55 for the year 2016. The T50 is said to sport a 5-inch display and the T55 is said to sport a 5.5-inch display. With Google changing the manufacturers and trying to keep the Nexus range unique and fresh every year it is a bit odd to see the company signing a 3 year deal with a Manufacturer for the Nexus devices. As there is no confirmation about the contract or deal from official sources, we can consider it a rumor till we get any confirmation about the same. It is surely a great deal if true for HTC as the company has been in news for all the wrong reasons, with the company value going down and sales not up to the mark. I guess this is the deal which will resurrect the company to its former glory.
