iOS 10 Announce Calls

How to make Siri to Announce Caller Name in iOS 10

Siri on iOS devices has been getting better with time as Apple has been working to include far more features than what it already has. For those who have an iPhone and are still wondering what’s Siri, you are missing out a lot by not using the virtual assistant that Apple has included for a long time now.

Just long press the home button on your iPhone and you will see it responding and waiting for your commands. But Siri is not all about virtual help but some automation as well, and it takes away the need for third-party apps for these kind of functions. One of them is the announcement of caller name when you receive an incoming call.

Here’s how to make Siri announce the caller ID during an incoming call in iOS 10.

Head to Settings > Phone and there, you will find the options for the Phone app, the first in them being “Announce Calls”, which is the first option to go into.

iOS 10 Phone Settings

Under this, you will see the following options.

  • Always
  • Headphones & Car
  • Headphones only
  • Never

Based on when you want to hear the announcement, select the option. For example, when you are using a headphone and the iPhone is in your pocket, you might want to hear the nae of the caller only at that time and there, the third option would make sense. Also, while driving if you don’t want to look into the phone screen, the second option is what you should choose.

It is only once that the name will be announced if the number is saved into the Contacts list, and that is after a first couple of seconds of the phone ring, so it shouldn’t be really annoying to you.
