Xiaomi Mi 5 Android Nougat

List of Xiaomi phones to get Android Nougat Update

The MIUI 9 update is confirmed and that will arrive in about a month, but the bigger news for many is that the new version of MIUI is going to be based on the latest Android OS update, i.e. Android Nougat. Interestingly, this is going to come just a month or two ahead of the official release of the new version of Android that succeeds the Android Nougat version, but that has been the case with Xiaomi all the time and the phones running MIUI had a very different interface, thus it didn’t matter which Android OS version it was.

Nevertheless, for the ones who were always interested on seeing the newer version of Android on their Xiaomi device, it is officially arriving very soon. Now, the actual date for its arrival is not yet confirmed but let’s check which are the phones that are going to see the MIUI 9 update with Android Nougat OS.

Phones to get Android Nouat MIUI 9 Update

  • Xiaomi Mi 6 – Android 7.1.1 Nougat
  • Xiaomi Mi Max 2 – Android 7.1.1 Nougat

  • Xiaomi Mi Note 2 – Android 7.0 Nougat
  • Xiaomi Mi 5s – Android 7.0 Nougat

One of the shockers is the absence of the phones from last year, especially the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, one of the very popular phones and then the Xiaomi Redmi 3s. These phones might get the future MIUI updates and the MIUI 9 could arrive but then, that interface will not be based on the Nougat OS.

Another budget-oriented device that is not in the list but is expected to be there very soon is the Redmi 4A. The list has come out from the Chinese team of the company, so we are yet to even know if the list remains the same for the other markets or is there going to be a change anytime soon. We will update this post whenever we get any new information.
