MWC 2018 What's in my bag

Gizmo Times at MWC 2018 – “What’s in my Bag?” Tech Edition

MWC 18 is almost there and we’ve already landed at Barcelona and are all set for the event, as most of our readers are interested in knowing what gear I am carrying with me for the MWC 2018 event, this post has been compiled to update you on the same. The setup has been smartly chosen to pack the maximum tech into the minimum bulk.

The first and the most important thing I have is the media pass/badge that gets me into the booth and gives me access to the conference.

The laptop, and the camera

The next most important thing is the laptop which we will be using for our coverage, the weapon of choice here is the MacBook Air 2017 version that I’ll be using to edit the videos and manage the content on the website. The camera of our choice to cover the event is the trusty Sony A6300 mirrorless camera along with the 30mm f/1.4 lens. These are the devices that most of the photos and video footage will be captured on.

The phones that I am carrying

The toughest decision while packing the perfect kit was to decide which phone to carry. We’ve excellent phones from each brand that come with a few features that help make it a better choice over the other. Pixel 2 came as a no-brainer for the primary device that I chose to carry, along with the OnePlus 5T and while I won’t be really using the Honor 9 Lite and Redmi Note 5 to capture pictures of the event floor but then I am carrying them to compare the cameras of the two.

For the media

To help us with the event coverage on a smartphone and make the videos better stabilized, we’re using the smartphone Gimbal, the Gimbal will be used with the event coverage and also for shots while we are traveling and exploring the city. The next on the list is my latest purchase at Dubai where we had a long wait, the Parrot Zik 3 is a noise cancellation headphone that we will be trying out during our stay in Barcelona to verify the common claim of it being the most advanced headphone in the world. The next on the list is the storage medium to store all the recorded and edited footage, the device being used for this is the 2TB Seagate slim portable hard disk. The Seagate hard disk is extremely portable and very sleek making it the best device while carrying around. We’re also using a belt to hang on the DSLR while not using it, this eases the muscles by greatly reducing the work on it.

The microphone that we are using for the event is the Boya Mic, Although I’m still unsure of the quality of this mic and how well it will perform, I’m trusting it to serve its purpose. The next on the list is the GoPro fast charging adapter which comes with several international plugs that we can choose from.

I’ll be using the Timex IQ watch which is one of my personal favorite given the 1-year battery life. The tripod of choice is the Simpex tripod with a fluid head to help me with the B-roll footage. To squeeze in all the equipment I’ll be using the HP Odyssey bag sheerly because of the given number of compartments in it and with this ends the list of Tech that I’ve carried to Barcelona for MWC 2018 to help with the coverage.

So, the tech-filled bag will be the one giving us everything while we cover the Mobile World Congress event for the next few days.
