Top 5 Alternatives To Netflix in India

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ll probably know that Netflix is now officially launched in India. Netflix is a media streaming service, popular for streaming movies and TV shows off the internet right to your device. This service is very popular in the USA and other countries, but recently at CES 2016, Netflix launched in 130 more countries worldwide.

Netflix alternatives India

However, if you feel the Netflix banner isn’t what you’re looking for, there are other alternatives to this service, free and paid that you can make use of. In this article, we’ll be talking about the best alternatives to Netflix in India.

Hotstar (Free)

Hotstar is one of the most popular media streaming application in India, mainly because it is free and offers a lot of good content. On Hotstar, you can stream movies and TV shows (of the Star Network only) and watch them whenever you want, wherever you want. The best part about this is that it has the ability to stream live cricket matches, that almost everyone in the country loves. If you haven’t tried Hotstar yet, you should definitely give it a try.

YouTube (Free)

YouTube needs no introduction to what it is, everyone has at least once seen any video on YouTube, if not more. YouTube allows you to stream certain classic Indian movies, free of cost to your computer or smartphone. The quality of the movies streamed is also pretty good, and I loved the quality when I streamed an Indian classic on my computer about a month ago.

Eros Now (Free/Paid)

Eros Now is a freemium (Free + Premium) service that allows you to stream content to your smartphones or your computer. The free service gives you access to a limited library, and if you’re satisfied with that, no need to upgrade to premium. But if you want a more elaborate library, go ahead and get the premium versions to get their massive library. Eros Now is popular for streaming Bollywood movies, TV shows and music, but their movie library is tremendous.

BigFlix (Free/Paid)

BigFlix is a service by Reliance Entertainment, and it lets you stream certain movies for free, just like the Eros Now service, but if you want access to their complete library, you don’t have to pay for a subscription like with Eros Now. Here, you pay per movie and then you can watch that movie as many times as you want. The BigFlix service only supports movies, and not TV shows or music streaming like their competitors.

Spuul (Free/Paid)

Spuul is an internet streaming service in India which offers features like the ones listed above for other services. For free, you can stream a few movies and TV shows, but the library expands when you sign up for a paid account. It offers movies in not just Hindi, but other regional languages as well.

The services listed above in the article are the ones that I see as an alternative to Netflix in India. If you think there is some other service that can be a part of this list, do let me know by commenting below in this post and I’ll be sure to include them in the list if they’re worthy of that!
