Google Pixel and Pixel XL officially launched replacing the Nexus

Pixel and Pixel XL are the latest smartphones to be launched by Google. They replace the Nexus line-up and are the first phones to feature inbuilt Google Assistant. Manufactured by HTC, the brand new handsets look similar and sport a beautifully designed exterior along with powerful hardware. The duo will be available for purchase from today itself. Google Pixel and Pixel XL are not cheap devices and cost upwards $649 or Rs. 43,200.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL Specs

Recent leaks had already revealed almost the entire specifications of the newly launched devices. The Pixel comes with a smaller 5-inch display while the bigger Pixel XL sports a 5.5-inch panel. Apart from the screen and the battery capacity, almost every other thing is identical for both the smartphones. The smaller one has Full HD (1080 x 1920) screen resolution, while its larger sibling boasts Quad HD (1440 x 2560) display. Both of them are AMOLED panels and are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

As rumored, the brand new Snapdragon 821 chipset powers up both the handsets. It comes with four custom Kyro cores running at a maximum clock speed of 2.15 GHz. This is complemented with the powerful Adreno 530 GPU. The Pixel and the Pixel XL sport 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 32 GB or 128 GB internal memory.

Google has deeply integrated cloud storage right into the Operating System and with the Pixel phones you will get free unlimited cloud storage for photos and videos right in their original qualities. A brand new Android 7.1 Nougat is at the helm of the smartphones, with two years of promised OS updates and three years of security updates.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL Colors

The latest handsets sport 12.3 MP primary camera with large f/2.0 aperture. Google claims this to be one of the best in the mobile industry. It features an advanced always on HDR+ mode made possible by its zero shutter lag. Enhanced optical camera stabilization perfects the rear shooter. At the front, there is an 8 MP selfie unit.

The primary camera can record 4K videos at 30 fps; slow motion 1080p footages at 120 fps and 720p ones at 240 fps. There is a dual LED flash at the back of the Pixel smartphones to aid low light shooting. The front camera can only capture Full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps.

Speaking of battery, the Pixel comes with a 2770mAh battery while the bigger Pixel XL sports a larger 3450mAh one. The newest handsets feature the modern USB Type-C port along with the good old 3.5 mm headphone jack. There is support for 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth 4.2, dual band 2 x 2 MIMO Wi-Fi, NFC, GPS, Compass, etc. The fingerprint sensor lies at the back of the device.

Google Pixel, Pixel XL launch date

The Pixel and Pixel XL comes in three color options namely Quite Black, Very Silver and a limited edition Really Blue. It will go on sale today at the USA, Germany, UK, Australia and Canada for a starting price of $649 USD. In India, the smartphones will be sold for Rs. 57,000 onwards with pre-orders starting from October 13.
