How to Transfer Call Logs from One Phone to Another

People these days change their smartphone a lot more frequently than they used to in earlier times. With this constant moving between phones, it is sometimes beneficial to transfer your call logs as well so you have them on your new smartphone as well. Earlier, I discussed how you could transfer your SMS messages from one phone to the other, but today, let’s talk about transferring the call log in a few simple steps.

Before we begin transferring your call logs from one phone to the other, make sure you have both the smartphones with you and both should have internet connectivity. However, if you don’t have the new smartphone just yet, you can make a backup of the call logs and then either email them to yourself or copy to your computer and then, later on, download it to your new smartphone.

Transfer Call Logs from One Phone to Another

For carrying out this process, I am going to make use of the same application that I did when I showed you how to move SMS from one phone to another. Let’s get started with the steps on how to do this.

  • On your old phone, go to the Google Play Store and download the SMS Backup and Restore app by Carbonite. Don’t be fooled by the name just yet as this app also supports Call logs transfer.
  • Now when you have downloaded this application, open it and tap on the Backup button.

  • Here, choose the folder where you want to backup the messages or call logs. I kept it as the default folder only.
    Choose Destination Folder
  • In the next window, choose what all you want to backup and give the files a name that you want, or you can also leave it to the default ones. Then just click Ok at the bottom of the dialog.
    Backup Settings
  • Wait for the application to backup the entire content that you had selected and when it’s done, you’ll get a message stating that it has been completed.
    Backup Complete
  • Once the backup is complete, you can see the backup files by opening your favorite file manager, mine is ES File Explorer, and going to the folder called SMSBackupRestore. There you will find the files that you have just backed up.

  • Now, transfer these files to the new phone via Bluetooth or email them to yourself so you have them when you get your new phone.
  • Now, on the new phone, install the same application you installed on your old phone and open it. This time, click on the Restore button instead of the Backup button and then it will show you the backups it found if they were placed in the same folder.
    Restore Options
  • If your backup files are not shown, simply browse them and then the application will show them.

    Browse Restore

  • Then finally just click on Restore at the bottom to restore your call logs and text messages to your smartphone.

I hope this tutorial was helpful in transferring your call logs from one phone to the other. If you think this tutorial can help someone else as well, make sure you share this with your friends and family and stay subscribed to GizmoTimes for more articles like this in the future.
