One thing that is rare about Apple is that it never slashes the prices of their products like any other brand in the market. It looks like that’s in the past now, as the company has started cutting the prices of USB-C adapters, 4K & 5K displays that Apple launched in association with LG. Does this move comes from the outrage since the day it launched the 2016 MacBook Pro? Well, if you put it that way it sure looks like it, though.

Starting off, Apple has slashed the prices of all the USB Type-C adaptors by $6-$20 depending on the product you look at. Apple says that the price is slashing it to help the early buyers of the 2016 MacBook Pro without putting extra cost burden with these additional accessories. Third party brands like SanDisk have also cut the prices of the adaptors making these more affordable for MacBook Pro users.

During the 2016 MacBook Pro launch event, Apple has launched two monitors in association with LG with a hefty price tag, now though they carry much lesser price tag if you are looking to get UltraHD monitors. The LG 5K monitor was launched at $1,299.95 is now available to buy just for $974. While the 4K monitor is now priced at $524 bringing it down from $699. Though they are not affordable, money sure goes where there is quality, right?

Following are the price cuts of the Apple USB Type-C accessories:

  • USB-C to USB-A adapter: New Price: $9 Down from $19
  • Thunderbolt 3 to Thunderbolt 2 Adapter: New Price: $29 Down from $49
  • USB-C to Lightning cable (1 meter): New Price: $19 Down from $25
  • USB-C to Lightning cable (2 meters): New Price: $29 down from $35
  • USB-C VGA Multiport Adapter: New Price $49 Down from $69
  • USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter: New Price: $49 Down From $69

For those who have bought these accessories, Apple is offering the refund for the price difference. Those orders that are still processing, Apple will add in the required price drop before charging. This price cut come after the company has faced severe criticism for skimping on the traditional ports such as USB-A, Thunderbolt 2, SD card slot, MagSafe, etc. for USB-C equipped Thunderbolt 3 ports.
